I Would Gather Children

Some would gather money

Along the path of life

Some would gather roses,

And rest from worldly strife.

But I would gather children

From among the thorns of sin,

I would seek a golden curl,

And a freckled, toothless grin.

For money cannot enter

In that land of endless day,

And roses that are gathered

Soon will wilt along the way.

But oh, the laughing children,

As I cross the sunset sea,

And the gates swing wide to heaven,

I can take them in with me!

Jumping right into the teenage years...female teenage years...phew...Your home will be known as "home of the brave." And those darling precious boys!

They have you written all over them.

Personal question (answer if you wish, if you don't, not a problem!): Have you looked into fostering?

Keeping my fingers, toes, and eyes crossed.

Hope your dinner is fabulous.

just stopped by after I saw a comment you left on the Intense Guy's journal; good luck with potential adopting these darling/handsome children!! most who look to adopt, as you know, go for the babies; it takes a special person to adopt older kids; we adopted our two when they were young; 6 days old and 1-year-old. Its been a blessing and most of the time a joyful thing (they are grown 20/23)

Jennifer said...

I'm at work so I'm trying really hard not to cry for you (smudged mascara is not at all professional... who am I kidding, I'm not professional).

We tried seven years to get pregnant before I just couldn't take it any more. We signed up to adopt through foster care. The next to the last class I went in for my TB test and found out that I was pregnant. A real, true miracle. My Baby Girl will be five in December and I still look at her in awe that she is really, truly mine.

I still think about foster care and adoption sometimes. There are just so many kids that need a loving home. Maybe one day when the kids are bigger (and we have more space) we will be able to do it.

My heart aches for you to have the family that you want. I understand, as Greg and I don't have any children and I have female issues. We've been trying, but don't think we'll have children. He doesn't want to try fertility drugs and we'll both be 40 or over this month, and have been told that age such an age, adoption isn't likely.

Wishing you the best!!!!!

Jolene said...

I'm over from SITS and I read your 2 "kids" posts first, because I knew I'd identify. I also had 2 miscarriages and knew I wanted to be a mom, so I also went through home study, adoption paperwork (but no placement) before finding out I was preg. (miracle or adoption cliche) and somehow carrying to term. Just like Jennifer, I also think about adoption and fostering and absolutely know I would have loved that route and that this way is different but no less real. If my partner wasn't 55 and "done", I would have adopted already.

Best of luck that you will soon have a bustling household and get to share your abundant love with your new family. Can't wait to read about it.

One question though. If you go to these databases you told me about, is all I have to do is copy the pictures and it already has the information to go with them or how does that work? If you get a chance send me an e-mail. Thanks, PJ
