I know. I haven't posted this week. I've been in a funk. I actually think I'm going to write a 'private post' about some stuff so if you want to know what's going on please leave your email in your comment so I can send you the link once it's written.
Photobucket
It's nothing too big, just someone something that is irritating me and it's festering up in my mind.

But, in the meantime, I still need to get this randomness off of my mind! So here goes:
________________
First of all, my Mom and Dad had to put their dog, Dusty, to sleep this week. :( :(
Yes, the same dog I just saw last weekend is now gone. His heart had had too much. My Dad is quite upset over it. He's retired and has spent a lot of time with this dog. :(

I let the 3 yr old I nanny for take pictures with my camera this week. Most were of random things like a foot or a couch cushion. But she managed this one:

Photobucket
And then she told me she wanted to take a picture of me dancing so I had to "dance" but I had to "not move". Here's how it turned out:
Photobucket

I think she has a future in photography!

Here's a video of what work is like for me:
*Yes the 3 yr old is wearing a pink and leopard print ballerina outfit. That's how we roll.

TMIFYI (Too Much Information For Your Information): I totally pick through the garbage at my office cleaning job and take out the bottles and cans to return for money. Yes. I said it. I'm a garbage picker.

Just Wondering: Why do birds bob their heads when they walk?
_______________
Okay, so I am so random. I text. A lot. Last week I decided that I was sick of writing "k" for "okay". I mean, why does the letter K get to have all the texting glory? So I randomly picked the letter "Q" and used it in place of "k" everytime I went to text 'okay'. Seriously, I did it for a week.

So then, I realized the 4 yr old I nanny for is as random as I am. We were driving home and he says "When we walk in the door let's say "Old!" instead of "Hi". I said 'okay, but why?' and he replied, "I don't know, I thought it'd be funny!". Love it.

Random Thought Of The Week: How come when you bring children to the zoo where they should be soaking up all the animal-goodness they are more interested in the gosh-darn water fountains??

LadyStyx sent me this picture:
Photobucket
She saw them on a road trip and thought of me! I love this picture because A) orange flowers B) They kinda look like the shape of a "Y" for Yaya C) LadyStyx told me they are called 'Butterfly Weeds' and I love butterflies D) They are a grouping of 3 put together and 3 is my favorite number! Thanks HB!

Someone left a bag of poop on my front stoop. Oh wait. That was me.
_____________
Photobucket
One time at band camp when I was leaving home for college my fish committed suicide. You think I'm joking, but I'm not. It was the night before I was leaving and my Mom said, "What are you going to do with Toasted Cheese?" (yes, my beta was named Toasted Cheese). I said, oh I'm not gonna bring him, it'd be too much.
So then in the middle of the night I hear a splash and it woke me up. I thought, huh, and fell back asleep. In the morning I awoke and there was no Toasted Cheese (the fish) in the fish bowl. I was confused, but figured maybe the cat finally got the fish. So I finished packing my suitcase and we were off. I get to college and I'm unpacking and there's Toasted Cheese. Dried up, laying among my underwear. Seriously.

Josh is home!!!!!!!!!!

If you want more Yaya, my friend Jeanne wrote a post about me HERE.

Jeanne also gave me these wonderful gifts:
Photobucket
A framed picture of Jeanne and I with the quote "No better friend, no bigger heart."

Photobucket
A framed picture of Josh and I (one of my favorite pics of us) with the quote "Each new leaf is a sign of hope."

Thank you Jeanne!
_____________
True Story:  This is pathetic. I haven't gone grocery shopping in such a long time that I decided to go and do a big shopping trip to stock up the cabinets before Josh got home. (So he might actually have some food to eat...sounded like a good idea). Well apparantly our bank doesn't recognize me grocery shopping because they called my husband with an unusual expense.

If you already have the teeth trays made by a dentist, I really liked Opalescence. My dental hygeinist friend suggested it to me and it worked and it didn't bother me! And I am sensitive. the first stuff I was supposed to sleep in and I woke up in agony, crying all day, the pain was so bad!

Alicia do you know HOW you make a grab button, like those on the side of your page? I can probably MAKE one, as in the art, but have no clue how you make the other stuff that links it to my blog!!

YaYa, missed you posting this week and glad to have you back as much as you are glad to have your Josh back!!!

Dear one, you have had a rough week. You needed a break. Soooo very sorry for having to put Dusty down. What a sweet picture. Keep happy thoughts in your heart for her. I am sure your dad is crushed over losing her as you are .

Certainly love the video and I see where those two get their dancing skills from.

Thank you dear one for posting, and (((YaYa))))

I feel so bad that your dad had to put his "best friend" down. That is definitely a super hard thing to go through...been through it myself. I'm so happy for you that Josh is finally home! Yippee! Have a fantastic weekend!

I love the one of you dancing but not moving! I have to make people do that sometimes (o:

Sorry about your dog.

I had a beta -- for all of a day, and it jumped out, we found it and put it back. The second time it jumped out and the dog ate it. Oh well.

Sorry that you have a lot going on right now. It seems so many of us do. It must be something in the air. I'd ask to have access, but I am new reader. So, I won't.

I am sorry about your parents having to have their doggy put down. That made me cry, because Scott and I don't have real children . . . only four pet children. They are our lives and mean so much to us. I cannot imagine. I don't want to imagine. Must stop thinking sad thoughts NOW! :o(

Cute girls that you nanny! Looks like a fun job.

I refuse to have my teeth whitened. Cleaned is good, but not whitened. I am paranoid and try to keep things al natural.

Poor fishy! We have a huge freshwater tank. We used to keep one or two betas and goldfish in there. At the pet stores they makes it seems like they are not tropical fish, but they are. They lived a really long time, but eventually passed. We never replaced them. The names is HILARIOUS, by the way. I am glad to hear that we are not the only ones who name our fish. Let me tell you, we are running out of names. LOL!

So is the old man home yet? If so how did he feel about Josh being there? badabump!

Gotta love the way you roll with those kids...did you notice the young girl dances like you too?

Thanks for the information about the zoo, I had been thinking of taking a friend of mine and her daughter but now I can save the money and just squirt the kid with the hose.

Have a good Friday!

Crazy story about your fish. I'm not sure if that is hilarious or gross.

Sorry about your stressful situation – hope getting it off your chest helps.

Sorry to hear about Dusty. It’s so hard to lose one of our furry family members. Prayers for your Dad.

LOVED the video. You sound exactly how I imagined! And you’re awesome.

The bank thinking your grocery shopping was a questionable charge? Priceless.

Thanks, Yaya. You always make me smile.

There is so much to comment on with this post, I feel like I have to take notes. You'll understand if I am extremely tired (just home from work) and just say that "I LOVE IT!" Every little thing about it. It's so easy to read and so relate-able...I just love it.

My beta also committed suicide. I'm not sure if he was depressed being in that nasty apartment all day or if he was just sad thinking about the holidays. We went to buy a Christmas tree and when we returned home, fishy had jumped.

I'm so glad Josh is home and LOL'd about the groceries. Our bank would probably call if we *didn't* make 4 stops a week.

Have a great weekend!

So many things inthis random list that made me want to comment! Firstly, I am sad too for Dusty, and for your dad. :(

Next, I am going to walk into the house tonight and shout 'Old!' and see hat happens! Love it! That cracked me up. I love kids.

I love the heart shaped orange flowers. How sweet to be told they made someone think of you.

ANd I am very pleased Josh is home, I miss my guy terribly when he's away. He's my companion--best friend and everything else. Glad yours is home!

And finally--again, I started laughing at your 'unusual expense' at the grocery store! Hahaha! Very good.

Fun post.

Old Yaya, I'm sorry to hear you were in a funk all week and something is "festering up" your mind. You got lots of people that will listen, including me, Oh-que? You know know my email so if you think you want to share - please do.

I'm sorry that way cute dog passed on - its been a really tough week or two for your Dad. I look at the doggy's face and picture him wearing a halo and playing a harp.

That kid certainly does have a career with the camera - on both sides.

I'll do a "cone slasher" flick if you do one of you picking over the trash at work while dancing. :)

Hope you and Josh have a lovely weekend.

I once had a suicidal fish. We had a little tank on top of the fridge. Freddie the fish went missing one day and I blamed Harry and Oscar the fish for eating Freddie. Weeks later I was having a new fridge put in and there was Freddie, dead, behind the fridge. I still blamed Harry and Oscar for making Freddie jump out of the tank.

Sorry about the pooch. And how IS your dad doing?

Nannying sure looks fun!

I pic bottles and cans out of the garbage all the time, simply because I cannot stand the thought of them filling up a landfil. I'm too lazy to turn them in, though; I just move them to the right bin.

Oh, MAN, that fish wanted to go with you! Poor thing.

LOVED the bag of poop on the porch fragment. Awesome LOL!

Awesome ballerina outfit! I'd so borrow it in a heartbeat. Yeah, cuz that's how I roll.

TMI....it's called recycling. No shame in that. Now if you were pickin out other used items, that'd be gross...

So, what kinda weird comments back did you get with the Q experiment?

Anything that the kids can get their hands on is always more attractive than something they can only look at.

So glad ya like the pic. Thought of you the minute I clicked the shot!

Betta suicide. Ya know, I've only heard of that happening one other time. I thought my estranged husband (that first idiot, pre-divorce) was just BSing me. Told him the infernal cat probably got to it. Now I see that it's possible that they couldn't bear to be without me.

LOL@ the grocery shopping. Gee...that woulda been great if ya were doing it as a surprise. *inserts eyeroll and wipes the extra sarcasm off the keyboard*

OMG! Josh is home!!! YAY!!! ~smiles~

-I haven't been to the grocery in forever either. Good thing I pay in cash or I'm sure the bank would be calling me also! I can't believe they called you, that's too funny!

- Your fish must have really loved you. Good thing I don't have one.

-YAY For Josh being home! Did you attack him into a hug at the airport?

-Hope you start to feel better and out of the funk. It sucks, I can relate. Hopefully writing it all out will help make it better!

YAY JOSH IS HOME!!! I know how lonely you've been and I'm so psyched for you both!!! Happy Anniversary and bow chicka bow wow!!!!!!

Super awesome frames!

I love LadyStyx too!

Water fountains aren't at home, therefore they are cool. Of course elephants aren't at home either.....I dunno, kids are weird!!

Bella was a huge, monstrous brat all day but I still "pushed through the pain" and got tons & gobs done today. I figure I'm gonna bill her for pain and suffering when the big bucks start rolling in, lmao!!

Have a fabulous weekend!!

PS Get your friend a super, duper, crazy soft stuffed animal. With a c-section, you have to cough up the crap that collects in your lungs from the drugs. Coughing will knock you out (almost) from the pain. If you have a super, duper, crazy soft stuffed animal and hold it against your guts, it's easier. I've had three, I know what I'm talkin' about!!!

AND, I know how hard this is for you and I love you and I'm proud of how brave you are!!!! It WILL be your turn soon!!!!

Great post. Love it all! Sorry about your Dad's dog. Being a Nanny looks like fun!

Funny story about the fish. Happy VGNO!

Julia said...

So I'm going to jump in on the bird question....Imagine that...

It's a matter of balance. The biomechanics of walking require a pendulum action in the birds head so they don't fall over. You will notice that the faster they walk the faster the head goes and vice versa for slow. These two things go hand in hand. I am thinking of your typical pigeon or chicken for example with their shape for a visual.

It's physics baby!!

Such a fabulous post, I don't know where to start:

I missed you.
Poor Dad! When I lost my "Skye" I was crushed.
She took a couple of nice photos.
Love the video. You guys look like you are having a ball!
I have a tendency to garbage pick sometimes, too. Even from the roadside.
Tooth whiteners hurt my teeth. Makes them sensitive.
I like your "new wave" text and talk.
You are sooo right about the zoo. I've never figured it out either. Of course, they also love the gift shop. Surely not because it usually has candy.
Love the flower. A couple more in the middle and it would have been a complete heart.
No comment on the poop.
I have known the fish to jump to their deaths, but to land in your suitcase... fishslaughter!
What wonderful gifts!
So funny that you grocery shopping is a suspicious activity. heeheehee
Glad Josh is home.

Yea! Josh is home. I noticed the kids pictures were missing so you must be in a funk but Yea! Josh is home.

I had to have my Moms dog put down(god that sounds awful) this year and it just broke my heart. He was fourteen and he was my last connection to her so it was hard. I wrote a post about it and I think I titled it final goodbye to a friend if you want to read it.

Happy Anniversary....Yea! Josh is home.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your parents dog. We had to get our cat put to sleep about a month ago.

So sorry for Dusty! My Chico is a part of my family too and it would definitely hurt me if I lost him. I am so glad that Josh is home!!

Poor Toasted Cheese he didn't want to live without you! When Summer went to college Chico walked into the living room and just fell over. He was non responsive but breathing. We rushed him to the doggie doctor and he was ok. I don't think he wanted her to go though.

I hope you have a great anniversary celebration. Hey I know you have got this already but you are the first person I thought of when I got it. Look at my Saturday post I have something for you.

Yay for Josh being home!

I'm sorry to hear about your parents' dog. That's sad. :(

Love the story about your fish. Sad, but so funny!

My husband brings home bottles from work sometimes (that he collects from people he works with) so we can recycle them too! No shame. :)

I would be interested in reading your private post if you want to share.

Rayanna said...

Oh, and Whiteners don't work like that. You were probably just allergic because they actually get into the middle of your teeth(which is responsible for whiteness). You should try your best to keep it off your gums, a little whitening of you gums, or blistering is normal. If it happens again, consult your dentist.

Jeanne said...

Alicia,

I'm sorry you were in a funk but I'm glad you took a blogging break because you needed it. I definitely want to see the "private post". Sorry something is festering.

I'm really sorry about your parents' dog. :( I'm sorry it's so hard on your dad.

Yay! Josh is home!

Not bad for the pictures taken by the 3 year old you nanny.

I haven't watched the video yet but look forward to doing so (can't have the audio on now, may as well wait and watch it right).

Re: TMIFYI... you are helping the Earth by getting those bottles and cans properly recycled. Good for you.

Yay again that Josh is home! Love that you posted that again. You are so cute.

Haha with the teeth. Organochlorines and endometriosis patients are not a good mix. My teeth may be yellowing but there's no way I could safely bleach them.

Funny with K and Q. Funny with "old" and "hi".

Water fountains really do hold an extra-special fascination for kids. I don't know why.

Awesome picture from LadyStyx!

I've heard of fish stories but that's quite a fish story!

Yay! Josh is home. I LOVE that you said this yet again. You are too much!

Glad you like the pictures. :) It was so nice to have dinner with you at Olive Garden and see that pretty rainbow!

How the hell many groceries did you buy to trigger a credit card company warning?

Getting some groceries so Josh has food to eat besides Lime Tostitos when he gets home from his business trip: $500.00

Going on a trip to Brazil to see exotic orange butterflies: $4,995.00

Time with Josh... PRICELESS!!!!!!

Yay! Josh is home! LOVE that you mentioned it again

Awesome quote!

Jeanne

P.S. I wrote the priceless/grocery stuff above before seeing Mary Ellen's comments above. Since you get so many comments to your posts, I usually go in backwards order when commenting on them... writing a comment first, then reading other people's comments, then posting it. I laughed when I saw that Mary Ellen found your grocery story priceless too. :)

LOVE the randomness and I can tell you that, by definition, kiddos are completely random...but you already know that! They pretty much blurt out whatever is on their mind...there is something so reassuring about that too!

I'm so sorry about your dad's dog...I can imagine how sad he is. How is he doing, BTW?

The kids you nanny for sound like a blast!!! It must be fun 24/7...well, maybe not 24/7 but most of the time, anyway.

The story about your fish almost made me pee in my pants. Okay, why lie? I did pee in my pants from laughing so hard...but just a little bit. Not that a dead fish is funny but the way you told the story had me laughing.

I had a fish commit suicide once, too! I swear. It wasn't my Beta, that one I literally let slip away, but a mini-catfish. So sad! Fun blog, aside from the fish story!

Woo hoo...Josh is home!!

So funny that the credit card company had to call Josh:D Guess they are on the ball. Just how much stuff did you have to buy...lol!!

Those whitening stuff does burn!! I am using one right now!! But it is a generic brand and not sticking so well.

An old boyfriend of mine had lots of fish and some of them had the names we were gonna name our kids. Spencer, Elijah Wood, Gregory and Grace. As you can see, those are not the names of my kids. Yup..he was not the man I married:)

I hope your week is going better.
