Sorry I've been MIA in blogging this week. Josh left early Thursday morning for 2 1/2 weeks. He's going outside of Boston for a program to get his Administration Certificate so he can hopefully be a Principal. But it requires 2 summers of him being gone for 2 1/2 weeks, plus a bunch of practicum work. This is the longest we'll be apart (I know, I'm pathetic). And he'll be gone for our anniversary on the 4th of July. :(

So I was full of anxiety this week with his approaching departure. My dogs even sensed my anxiety and haven't ate their food all week. (They are so good at reading my emotions).
Photobucket

But on the plus side I've made enough friends feel sorry for me that I'm invited to tons of dinners while Josh is gone!

Adoption Update:
Nothing new. I'm getting tired of waiting. I doubt we'll have any news next week either because our case worker is on vacation.

Every week I try to teach the 2 year old I nanny for a new catch-phrase. Since her 3rd birthday is on the 4th of July this week we worked on: "Go L, It's your birthday! You're gonna party like it's your birthday!"

(Notice her orange sunglasses on her head! ;)

TMIFYI (Too Much Information For Your Information): I had my annual hoo-ha appointment this week. You would think with all the cha-cha prodding I get with fertility treatment that I would be exempt from the big annual, but no, no, had to do that too. Yippidy-do-dah. Nothing like a cold metal alligater up your hee-hee to make ya feel like a woman.

Just So Ya Know: I am clinically diagnosed with severe OCD (seriously). However, when a kid offers me a nasty, slobbered, dirt covered bite of food as a means of thoughtfully sharing I just can't bring myself to say no so I eat the germ-infested morsel. Why can't I say no to that but I have no problem searching through every spoon in the drawer until I find the cleanest and shiniest one to use?

Speaking of OCD, I think it's rubbed off on the 4 year old I nanny for. Take for instance, before we could play on the slide it had to be clorox wiped:

He stole hand sanitizer from the grocery store.

And he likes to line-up the toothpastes and toothbrushes in the bathroom:

Oh, and his new "game" of the summer is washing Yaya's car:

Gotta love a mini-me.

True Story: I am the youngest child with 2 older brothers. When we were growing up we left this one church for another one and my brothers told me that it was because the church sacrificed squirrels. (I know right? How did they come up with that?) Well me being young and wanting to believe everything my brothers said, decided that they must be telling the truth. So when a family friend, and member of that church, asked me why we left I told her flat-out it was because that church sacrifices squirrels. She tried to tell me I was misinformed, but I knew the truth.

Focus Friday

Last week I focused on getting my hubby ready for school.
He is all packed and off for 2 1/2 weeks. :(

This week I am going to focus on: Pampering myself. I know, sounds funny, but I haven't done anything for myself in a bit, like a pedicure or something. So this week it's gonna happen!

Spiritual and religious are different. Spirituality doesn't necessarily have anything to do with religion.

I hope the next two and a half weeks go by quickly for you! Your little OCD clone is adorable!

Cute hair cut!!

Brandi said...

Hope you have a fun 2 1/2 week "vacation". I would seriously be so happy if my hubby left for that long. :)

Congrats on the bouncy thing. They look like so much fun, but I don't think I'd want to have to take care of one, especially with the kids around this neighborhood...

Happy birthday to the little girl, and happy anniversary to you and your hubby!

And, yes. I consider being spiritual and religious two different things. To me, religion is the whole church thing and preaching and all that. I don't like that. I don't like being told how to live my life and that because I had kids before marriage and all the other things I've done, I'm destined for Hell. I consider myself spiritual. I believe in God and I talk to Him. Not as much as I should, but I try to listen to what He tells me, not the churches...

Sorry if that causes controversy to some people. It's just my opinion. I'm not knocking church goers or hardcore Christians. That's just how I am. :)

Love your new cut!

And, hope you have an awesome weekend, and great holiday! :)

I would have a hard time with my hubby being gone 2.5 weeks too! That's a long time!! I hope his departure next summer isn't also over your anniversary!! That is sure a lot of toothpaste, is there like 20 people in that house?? ;-) Have a great holiday weekend - hope you have some of those dinners to go to soon!!

shortmama said...

These crack me up every week! Hopefully the 2 1/2 weeks go by quickly for you!

2 1/2 weeks apart is a long time. I love Josh's fashion sense :) Cute haircut and enjoy your pedi. Waiting does truly suck. I hope you hear something soon.

She said...

Nice new haircut! (I almost typed "haircute" which could have been appropriate too.)

I'm sorry that Josh has to be away for a while, but it's awesome that he's furthering his education. If he gets bored he can come up and visit T and D and I. :)

Spiritual and religious? Yup, I think they're different.

Rock on with your bad self and the bouncy house! Until you get your kiddos, you're at least going to be the coolest nanny on the block!

Holy tons of toothpaste, batman!

tubaville said...

I think spiritual and religious are totally different. I am not religious, not a Christian by any means but I am spiritual. I follow traditional native beliefs and have a taoist philosophy. I have found, though, that people are fine if you are religious/Christian, but they think you are crazy if you are like me...my husband on the other hand is neither but he is a Christian. Now how does THAT work???

Mrs OMG Pregnant said...

My man goes away a lot with work, and I miss him loads!=, so feel your pain there!

Kris said...

Omg....lol...yes, spirituality and religion are two completely different things. Religion kills spirituality is my newest saying. I love the haircut. Maybe you're like me...you have CDO....it's like OCD but with the letters in the correct order. Did he really steal hand sanitizer lol? Hubby says I'm raising germaphobes lol...imagine that! Congrats on the bouncy house...and that stinks about the hoo-ha appt.!

And that's a long time to be away! My husband is gone a lot on weekends and so forth, but never for more than a week at a time.

I laughed out loud SEVERAL times. What a fun visit.

Ps...I'm a lot older than you and never had children. The hoo ha appointments never end. As a friend of my MIL said to me when she accidentally slipped her hand under my bottom in the backseat of a crowded car a few years back "hey, we're getting older...we have to take our thrills where we can find them".

Vickie said...

Woo Hoo, Way to go Josh!! Do you know how much principals make!!!??? Boat...loads!!

Congrats on the jumpy gym! We have a small one, but the kids like it.

You crack me up with hee-hee! But to tell you the tructh...I would rather go to the gyno then the dentist.

Have the four year old you nanny for to come over to my house. I am a horrible housekeeper and I could use some help:)

Nothing like Friday fragments to catch me up on what's going on. Wicked cool win on the bouncy house. (Hugs)Indigo

OK, first of all, I want Josh to come over and help me go clothes shopping. I seriously have no fashion sense. He could help me out.

Eeek...I've got my annual hoo-ha visit coming up at the end of next month. Even though it doesn't take that long, it feels like hours.

How much toothpaste is on that bathroom counter?

Finally, your new hairdo is tres fab!

Happy 4th, Yaya! See ya at the VGNO!

Your hair cut is so cute.

I have two older brothers too who liked to lie to me when we were younger. When we watched "Night of the Living Dead," when it first came out, one of my brothers told me that it could really rain acid rain and make all the dead bodies at the cemetary come back to life and I believed him! I was so freaked out!
Then when I asked my parents if that was true and they said no, he later told me that my parents were just lying because they didn't want to scare me. What a brat huh?

LOVE the new rocking haircut!

In my life religious and spiritual are the same. But, I know many who view them as very separate things, and I can understand why they feel that way.

I hope you have fun pampering yourself the next two and a half weeks.

Love the squirrel story!! And the little kid with OCD is a boy after my own heart...stealing hand sanitizer? What a doll. :) Here's hoping your next 2 1/2 weeks fly by and your hubs is home before you know it!!

I loved reading your Friday Fragments, filled with cool tidbits, pictures, and a life lesson to boot!

EmmaP said...

mkay... "hoo-ha" made me laugh--out loud. still giggling. what else? oh...yeah. your hubby truly is a fashionista... ;)

and i think being religious and spiritual ARE two different things. I think of "being religious" more about the "rituals" or "belief" system one has. Such as how they worship, how they pray, if they have any sort of religious customs such as fasting or not eating certain meats, etc. So, as an example, Me attending church every sunday, praying daily, reading my scriptures and living by certain standards our church has is religious. I do those things because I believein my religion. However, I think it is better to become spiritual. It takes "being religious" to a higher level. I thinkg being spiritual involves a lot more "listening" and "pondering" which I feel also comes with doing the religious things (such as prayer, scriptures, etc.). But I think it is the "listening" or being in tune or opening your heart to try to understand what it is that God would have you know about you , about Him, or about whatever... that is waht I call being "spiritual". don't know if that makes sense... I guess a very short explanation (perhaps I should have started with that - ha!) would be that to me, religion is the "action" or way we live while "spirituality" is the feeling or the affirmation/testimony we receive as to the WHY we do the things we do...

Debbie said...

This is so full of goodness, I don't know where to start.

Your hair looks great.
And your mini-me is adorable!

Love your Friday Fragments, but by the time I get to the end, I forget what I was planning to comment on to begin with. Nice hair cut. Congrats on the win. Hope the 2.5 weeks without your hubby go by quickly and painlessly. Dirty food being offered by a child is too cute to pass up, even if you have OCD. I think you can be spiritual without being religious, so I guess they are different. I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff, but hey, that's life. Have a wonderful week-end.
Oh, in case you didn't know, Yaya in greek means grandma, and you know, in order to be a grandma, you've got to be a mommy first. You're just one step ahead of yourself, that's all :) .

Alex the Girl said...

I hope your two weeks fly by. I know what it's like to have em gone for that long...the first couple of days is okay, then the last couple of days is torture! I think spiritualness and religousness are two different things. You can be religous, but have the spirit, you know?

Mandala Michelle said...

Oh, so much to comment on this weeks. Let's see, religion and spirituality are very different. I think spirituality is what religion starting off being before all the rules got in the way.

Love the haircut. I haven't had a good cut in so long so you won't see any current pics of me on my blog.

Gotta love that annual. I'm trying to gear myself up for my first mammogram. Oh I love being a girl.

All your little nanny-ites are adorable : )

Sorry your hubby with be gone but think of how much fun you'll have when he gets home...hubba hubba

Lee said...

First off, congrats on the win! A bouncy house? That's so cool!
I'm sorry your hubby is leaving for 2 1/2 weeks!
I think all churches sacrifice squirrels.
It's a conspiracy.

Lisa said...

Never EVER heard the yearly thing referred to in such hilarious terms...thanks, cuz in Sept. that's gonna actually get me outta the car and into the office...and i may even chuckle in route... :) too funny and thank heavens for you its done for another year!

Get that pedicure and do lotsa nice things for yourself while your sweet guy is away...you deserve it!

Loving that mini-you!! LOL

Religion and spirituality need not be separate or the same. It depends on the person....can have both or just one.....a deeply spiritual person will probably have flirted with religion at one time or another, but not necessarily an organized religion. Does that make any sense? Well, I am tired ya know! ;)

Happy weekend Yaya!!

GypsyFox said...

Hi honey! I know you're feeling bummed about hubby, but it sounds like you'll kee yourself busy, maybe set up that bounce house! :) love your haircut! it's my daughter's bday too! (tommorow technically)...to answer your question about religion & spirituality, I believe they are completely different! spirituality comes from within us, religion to me are organized beliefs...did that make sense..hmm maybe I'll blog about it. what do you think?

Ryan Ashley Scott said...

Definitely get yourself a pedicure and whatever else you need! 2 1/2 weeks is SO long! Heck, one long weekend and I'd go crazy without the hubs. You have my sincerest sympathy.

My mom's 85th birthday is on the 4th of July!

How much toothpaste does that family have? He is cute too!

I'm dog sitting for my nieces GINORMOUS dog this weekend... they definitely know when something is up, the family had only been gone 4 hours, and I could tell the Bassett Hound was sad (she's not the ginormous one!)

Have a great weekend!

Sarah said...

oh that bathroom looks like the one where I used to nanny. Seriously, how many toothpastes do you need?! It used to drive me bonkers. They'd buy a new tube when the old one got lost...who loses toothpaste?! Also, I consider myself VERY spiritual but not religious at all. To me, it's what you believe in. i.e. if you believe in God and Jesus you're religious (or Allah or Buddha..). If you believe in being kind and being a moral human being...spiritual. Congrats on that bounce house! I can't believe you won...it must be an omen :)

Holy Sh*t! 104 comments. How do you do it Yaya?

Congrats on the prizes! I luvv that necklace!

LOL! about the squirrel church. I had an older brother, and sometimes they are just evil:)
(like when he would have me drink his "concoctions of ketchup, hotsauce, and mayo)

I guess I am mucho pathetic. I cry if Mike is gone for 2 days. 2 and a half weeks IS a long time! Hang in there!

OCD is my middle name! I can see it developing in my oldest as well! Gotta love it!

P.S. I love that your husband got an outfit to match his golf bag! PRICELESS!

I like the hair cut.

I just snorted my coffee all over my desk when I read the TMIFYI section.

I love cold clinical terminology. Your jargon might just catch on.

You are so cute!! I hope that 2 1/2 weeks go by quickly for you. Although....I have to laugh a little bit hun. You're talking to someone who is without their husband 12-15 months every other year!

Happy anniversary a few days later. How many years?

wow...where do I even start...
Matching shirt and hat to go with the golf clubs?? you and Josh are obviously made for each other.
Who wins a bouncy house?? That's unheard of!!
I LOVE the hope necklace. If I hadn't just signed away every last dollar to get into my new house, I would totally buy one right NOW.

At my annual hoo-ha visit last time, my doctor was chit-chatting away like always, and while he's talking, he was warming up the metal alligator under the hot water at the sink. At some point, I think he lost track of time because it was a VERY warm alligator that visited me. Still was better than the icy cold one though.

I love love love the squirrel church story. That's hilarious!

I always love your Friday Fragments. Congrats on the bouncer, that's awesome! Spiritual and religious can be related, but they are often different. They cannot be mutually exchanged in most situations.
LOVE the new haircut!
