This evening was our second home study visit for the adoption process. I was definitely less nervous this time around from the first visit!

'

Tonight's visit was "The Interview".
The dreaded interview.
For those not familiar with the adoption process, this visit is an intense interview about every event in your entire life. Seriously. Dredging up old memories, remembering specific dates, reliving the best and worst times of your life. It lasted 2 1/2 hours. Like a 2 1/2 hour therapy session talking about your inner-most secrets. Phew, we're exhausted.
At one point Josh took a phone call and talked for 10-15 minutes in the next room. I was so annoyed! I finally had to ask him to get off the phone! I mean, this is our home study where they are scrutinizing our every move. Argh! Why must husbands have the ability to NOT THINK sometimes!?
So then during the rest of the visit I made sure to slip him the evil eye whenever I had the chance.

Oh, and we kept hearing noises upstairs and had to reassure the woman that we are not in fact hiding someone upstairs, it is merely our fat cat jumping around.

_________
And, on Saturday our friend Mark took some pics of us for us to use in our adoption portfolio page. Here are a few:

whew, you survived the BIG INTERVIEW! wtg!
That last one is my favorite. I love the looks on your faces!
PS- Your kitty is cute! Tiger tabbies are my favorite!
Adorable photos for your portfolio. I might've had to give Josh a bit of an evil eye as well. Eh, men. Probably preferable to tell them you have a fat cat rather than a ghost. :)
Overall, do you think it went well? I really hope so.
Great pics! How could they not pick you!
Those are great pics! Aren't husbands supposed to be the ones that DON'T talk on the phone? My hubster talks on the phone way more than I do!
oh...you wore the green!! You are just so pretty on green!! I am sure tonight was exhausting...husbands...can't live with them, can't live without them!! lol Have a good sleep tonight!
I would've popped him in the face.
I mean come on, you don't just walk off to answer the phone!
You are beautiful!!!
My friend was telling me how in the interviews nothing is off limits. They asked her how many times a week her and her husband were intimate as well as other stuff I feel embarrassed to write. I hope it went well!!!
You guys look so cute in your pictures. You are such a strong person for being willing to go through the adoption process. I'm sure it's twice as hard as you've mentioned on here.
Thanks for bringing us along on your journey.
Yay on the interview being over!!!
I have a fat tabby tomcat named Beast (and he is) who looks just like your kitty :)
And girl, lemme tell you- you have the prettiest blue eyes! I love those pictures, you two look so sweet!!!
Keeping fingers permanently crossed for you.
Awww those are all such great photos! I'm sure the interview went just fine even if Josh was MIA for a chunk of it.
Yeay you got the interview out of the way! You guys look so sweet together. Your eyes are the bluest i've ever seen :)
Yeah!! You survived the interview!! I used to have to do homestudies for potential foster parents, as well as fost/adopt parents and I remember how unnerving it was for them. Sounds like you did well though!!
I love the pictures...you are such a beautiful couple!!!
Hello……. !
Very cute all these pictures... Great……. may god bless you !
Love the pictures for the portfolio! Your hair is the most gorgeous RED! I swear! LOOOOVE IT! I would have been mad if mine had answered the phone, then again, he does it all the time!
I love the one with your head on his shoulder... & the one where you both are laughing... all great pictures!
And you could have said his phone call was him giving direction on how to save a life or something :-)
Cute Photos!
I'm sorry, but I was laughing about the evil eye story. A little bit ago, Jason complained about my blogging and all afternoon I was giving him the evil eye. Later I said something about my evil eye and he said he didn't noticed. WHAT!!!
Hey, love your hair!! Yer so gorgeous! :)
What can I say except men can be soooooooooooo clueless at the most important times. Geeee.... And love the pictures. Great green blouse!
Your pictures are great...you have such beautiful red hair! Congrats on jumping through another hoop in the process. Sounds like you're almost there! Good luck:)
Glad to hear it is over, even if it was exhausting. I can't even begin to imagine the journey you two are on, but I do know that it will be well worth it!
I love the last photo !!
It says so much without words.
A - Men are just CLUELESS sometimes...
B - You are an AMAZINGLY beautiful woman!!! WOW!!!
I love the first pic in that grouping, very nice. You're almost there hun!
You two are so cute together! I am so excited for you to have all these interviews and paperwork and all that yucky stuff to be all over and for you to be holding your new little one! What a beautiful family it will be! Go Yaya!
It seems to have gone well! I love your evil eye - and your eyes are the most beautiful BLUE!!!
LOVE the pictures! You are such a cute couple...stunning! ;)
Big sigh of relief you got the interview part of the visits over...bad Josh for 'escaping' for 10-15 minutes with that phone call... ;)
LOVE the kitty! Princess Nagger keeps asking for a 'tiger striped cat'...if we were ever to visit, she'd want to take your kitty home...(grin!) :)
i linked you in my last post too....so others can see all your orange and brilliance
Your pics are adorable. My favourite is the second from the last. I am glad the interview is over...sometimes men just don't get it!
Oh well, I am sure the call was important:)
xox
you guys are getting there! step by step, you're getting there. i have to tell you, you have such a cheering squad for you all. you have such a wonderful way of letting us all feel this process along with you.
i get nervous with you, i rejoice with you. you, my dear friend, have a blogging gift few process. you have shown your true self and i for one am rooting for you guys!!
I'm sure you aced the interview. How could you not love a home with a fat, happy cat trundling around upstairs?!
It doesn't hurt, either, that you guys look like you're totally in love (in spite of taking calls at inopportune times!). You're in like Flynn.
omg, you are so close!
....
but little did you know that was me upstairs trying to break in.
Your friend did a good job on the pics. I LOVE the evil eye pic. lol
Men always seem to do something that just seems so dumb sometimes. I guess it's in their DNA.
Glad you got the interview done. You are getting so close. I am getting so excited for you I can't imagine how you are feeling.
Yay!
I love your pictures-- they are ALL my favourite! But probably the second to last one most of all... you look so happy :-)
Congratulations on The Interview being OVER! Yay!
Wonderful pictures! You're so cute! Getting closer to being done with all those pre baby things. Good job!
Glad you got through your interview! I can imagine how hard that was! And I must say, you two are a really cute couple!!
How absolutely lovely are these pictures? I am thinking that #4 is my favorite. You two look so happy.
Congrats on getting through the interview. Hopefully, things will be easier going forward.
-Francesca
Great pictures! I love the 4th one, you both look so happy! I don't know what I'd do if I had to answer all those questions, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't come off as a nice person....too many snippy answers & too much sarcasm! Can't wish you enough good luck!
i love the last pic... way sweet.
You are one step closer! Don't worry about Josh taking a call. That just proves he is normal:0)
The pics are great!
Great photos! And AMEN to that visit being over!
I have to say, you have the evil eye down to an art! It will come in handy when you're a mom! lol
Praying for you!!
One more down and one step closer. The pics came out great!
Great pics. Too funny about your noisy cat!
Men! I LOVE the fourth one! Your smiles are so natural. I think you should use that one! Glad it went well and it is over with! Yay! One step closer... :)
You two are such a beautiful couple! You my dear look awesome in green and your eyes...wow. I love the one when you both are smiling really big...looks very HAPPY!!!
Yay for the interview being complete!!!
Way to go!!!
You're getting there!!!
And by the way...those last two pictures made me say "aww...." out loud.
Fabulous. ;)
Nice job on the evil eye.
Cute pics. You look GREAT in green!
I would have switched from the evil eye to the stink eye--it's much more intense!! (0;
And the pictures are great--my favorite is the second one!!
Way to go, girl! My husband would have totally yakked on the phone without giving it a second thought! I'd be rolling my eyes at him BIG TIME, too! LOL! I love the pictures of you and your hubby together! You make a perfect pair!
Don't be mad at Josh. He did the typical Dad thing of only paying attention to his universe. If he sat there too doting, it might have looked strange and alienish.
oh bless you for going through the interview! the hubby and i did this 2 years ago when we adopted my lil bro after my mom died.
i was floored by questions like "when you were younger, how did you react when something didn't go your way."
you can't say "I screamed and told my parents i was running away!"
good luck to you guys!!! we'll have to throw a virtual baby shower here in the blog world!
You are a better woman than I. That interview would have stressed me out. You look gorgeous in those pictures.
LOVE the last 2 pics...congrats on another step done in the adoption process!
Your photos are wonderful! The last one is my favorite!
Congratulations on a successful interview! You are amazing!
I like the last two pictures the best. That boy adores you.
BOO to the talking on the phone thing though!! (At least the interview is over though, and I'm sure you guys are head and shoulders above 95% of their applicants.)
Good luck to you. I am in the same process, although not so far along. I've had the first visit, my second visit is on the 4th.
Can I just say you have amazing beautiful blue eyes. But I'm sure your hubby tells you all the time. Isn't it nice to hear it from someone else though?
You are almost there. How'd you get such a healthy cat? Mine can't gain weight for trying.
You survived, congrats :) Awesome pictures :)
OH... I am so hoping for the best for you two!
Xazmin
LOL! Your fat cat was simply providing background music! Glad you survived!
Wow, sounds like a tough interview. Hope you were pleased with how it went and can relax a little now.
Lovely pics!!
Take care, N x
Love the pictures and congrats on surviving the interview!!!
would love to get that blog link from you. i've talked to many people who have struggled with EDs and know that a lot of times only if you've been there can you really understand...
Can you guys be my mom and dad?
The pictures are so cute! Your cat must be a chubster making all that racket!
Glad your homestudy interviewing is done!! My hubby had the nerve to have a kidney stone and have to take himself to the hospital during our homestudy to adopt our daughter...I could've killed him!!
One step closer to your little one!
OMG your cats has fat cheeks! That made me giggle.
Great pictures of you guys!
GREAT pictures!
Why did he talk on the phone like that? How did you keep from killing him:)
Your photos are fabulous! :)
Love the pictures - You both are potraying the love for each other and saying without words that you both are ready to invite someone else in to share this love with!!
Congrads the home study #2 is done - Yea Yea!!
Great photo's! The "worst" part of the home visits are over right? According to your ticker your less than a week from "getting a life!"
those pictures are absolutly stunning you look beautiful and your hubby not bad either...great shots...
ahh the interview....I was amazed at what they thought they needed to know about us...but you got through it...YEAH!!!

I have always felt the call to adopt. I pray someday we will. What an awesome journey. That interview sounds awful. BTW I love your eyes..they are striking (this is the first time i have been to your blog)
Gorgeous photos! Glad you survived the interview ;0)
Woohoo! YAY on surviving that evil interview! ;)
Adorable!
Cute pictures! I would have killed my husband too if he did that...and it's the kind of thing he'd do! I'm sure you aced the interview.
Good job with the interview! At least Josh wasn't sitting there playing online poker the whole time!! ;-) The pictures are fabulous!
Alicia,
Yay... you got through another home study!
